Featherstar sat down in the brook. The cool water soothed her aching paws and she sighed happily. The tortie looked around, and watched the minnows swim around in a few shallow pools. With her paw, she nudged a stone and created a tiny waterfall leading to one of the minnow pools. She saw one of the small minnows swim farther down the brook. You're free to travel as you wish. She thought. She pawed at a leaf on one of the stones near the edge.

She cracked her mouth while searching for the scent of burdrock root but it seemed hard to find concidering it was winter. Sighing in defeat she spotted her leader dipping her head respectively and padding up to her, "Hello Featherstar, lovely day don't you agree?" Mewed the little tortishell politely.

"My mentor insists that I find some burdock root..We're running low," Replied Pokerpaw as she smiled kindly at her leader. "You haven't seen any by any chance have you?" Asked Pokerpaw hopefully, eyes glowing to her little hearts content.

"Yes mam' that is very true, we need to be sure we keep as many warriors as we can through leaf-bare..Theres no telling when one of the clans could attack. Especially Leafclan I've heard the populations grown," Reported Pokerpaw. For a seven moon apprentice she was pretty wise and smart.

"I hope Skystar thinks better of attacking us during this season." Featherstar replied. She flicked her tail from side to side. She kneaded the stones beneath her and looked at the apprentice.

"Perhaps. Or maybe she'll have common sense. Neither of us can waist any of our warriors." Featherstar cocked her head to the side in thought. "Perhaps Nobleheart will advise her better of it." She added.

"Ah yes, my winter coat is still thickening, so I'm still a bit chilly." Featherstar shivered. She stood up and took a few steps back from Pokerpaw. She shook out her pelt, then padded back to the apprentice. "Much better." She sighed.

"Seems our luck is changing, I've had no recent visions from Starclan," Started Pokerpaw with a curt smile.

"Possibly horrid but no lost warriors. Our warriors our to well trained to die in a battle against Leafclan, besides if they start a fight on our territory they would render hopeless. They can't stand the undergrowth, correct, they rely on the marsh and pine barbed trees," Replied Pokerpaw.

"Ah yes. You know, you are very wise for an apprentice. I shall be happy when you are able to become a fully fledged medicine cat." Featherstar mewed. "Not that I want your mentor to step down, but you seem like a wonderful young cat." She purred.

"You think. Most apprentices jump in head first in any situation, and don't think about anything. You on the other hand, you think and can hold a conversation for more than a minute." Featherstar mewed.
