Cartel shrugged a bit. "It's fine, Hailey, honest." he mewed, nipping his mate playfully. "Come on, lets go patrol." he mewed, smiling brightly, seeming to forget what had just happened.

Hailey gave a soft smile nodding before she pressed her pelt again Cartel's. "Love you Cartel," She mewed softly as she gently licked the toms cheek. She flicked her tail lovingly shock to smell her own inheat scent. "God!" "Alright..Well lets go then," Mewed Hailey trying not to sound fidgety as she began slipping into the undergrowth.

There was a flash of russet as the young tom bounded through the trees, green eyes flashing. It had been quite a few moons since he had come this way, mainly because he usually tried avoiding the two cats that lived here. Falter had his mind set on hunting for himself and his mate though, so here he was. He wasn't inside Cartel and Haileys territory, but he was pretty darn close. The young tom stopped and pricked his ears up, his mouth open slightly to take in a breath. Cartel, Hailey, some other tom, and. . . mouse! Falter stalked over the snow, setting his paws down carefully so he wouldn't startle the creature. He peered over a fallen log, spotting the scrawny brown mouse scuffling around the roots of a tree. The young tom clawed his way onto the log and bunched his muscles. A moment later he leapt off, landing sqaurely on his prey. He killed it with a swift bite to the neck and smiled slightly. If he couldn't find anything else, this would be for Xyle. He kicked snow over it before opening his jaw to take in the scents around him. He was only about a tail length away from the border. . .

Hailey glanced up in shock, "Uhg!" She gave a hiss when Fartel's scent gave into reach. "Oh God," She gave a gasp before almost imeadietly pelting back to Cartel and attempting to shove him ahead of herself. She was in a total frenzy as she stared at the tom out of shock.

Cartel purred softly when Hailey said she loved him, his heart doing little flips. Taking in a deep breath, the muscular tuxedo toms head reeled, his eyes locking on the now nervous Hailey as her in heat scent flooded around them. He chuckled slightly when she quickly trotted off, following her eagerly, more focused on her then much else. What threw him off was when she quickly doubled back, pushing him infront of her. He blinked, looking confused. "What's your issue, Hailey?! Geez..." he muttered, stepping away from her slightly and taking a deep breath, mostly getting her in heat scent which was driving him crazy, but then he got why she was freaking out. Falter. He hadn't been lurking around in a long time, but oh look, here he was. Falter hissed, tensing slightly, even more protective of Hailey now that she was in heat. "Come on Hailey." he mewed to her, nudging her softly, making sure she stayed close to him as he headed towards Falter's scent. He paused when Falter came into view. He was way to close to the border.
Cartel gave a yowl, his grey gaze locked on Falter while he hovered protectively by Hailey. "Falter. What brings you so close to our border?" he mewed curtly, trying not to sound too hostile, for he had no clue of Falters intentions yet.

"No Cartel, I don't wanna go over there," Mumbled Hailey in annoyance as she followed after her mate with wide eyes. "Please don't start anything Cartel..I'm sure he had no intention of doing anything stupid," Whispered Hailey.

Falter sighed. Of course he would get noticed. He turned his green gaze to Cartel and Hailey. "I'm hunting for my mate and I if you don't mind." he replied, just as curt as the other tom was being. The somali tom rolled his eyes at how protective Cartel was being over Hailey. Like Falter would actually do something. If he had wanted to, he would have already. He smelled Haileys in heat scent and kept any emotion from showing on his face. Yes, he still loved Hailey, but he had Xyle now, and she wouldn't let another tom mate with her.

"You're wasting your time. We hardly have any prey as it is so why would there be some close to our border for the most part," Hailey meowed simply as she waited for Cartel to end this.

Cartel hissed, his grey eyes flashing in annoyance. "Enough. Falter, do not hunt near our borders anymore. Prey runs slow in leaf-bare, hunt on and near your own territory." he mewed, looking at Falter.

"Are you going to stop me?" he challenged, his green eyes flashing irritably. Falter wasn't exactly looking for a fight, but Cartel could not tell him where he could and couldn't hunt, especially since he wasn't even over their border. He rolled his eyes as Hailey turned and left. Without much more then a twitch of his whisker at the two, he picked up his mouse and padded back towards his and Xyles territory.

Cartel would've said yes but Falter turned and walked off. Coward... He trotted up to the boarder and maked it again before trotting back over to Hailey, licking her neck, a purr arising in his throat dispite himself as her in heat scent once again caught his attention.

"Hailey..." Cartel started shying away from her a bit. "What if you get pregnant? You're too weak to carry kits, especially at this time in the winter. You're so skinny I can see all of your ribs easily. You don't eat hardly anything, even when I bring home more than enough for the both of us, like the mice last night." he mewed, frowning a bit.

"I wasn't hungry." Countered Hailey in an incredibly soft growl with her ears flicking back on her head. "I'll be fine Car." She mewed in a reassuring voice as she looked at the black and white tomcat.

"You're never hungry anymore Hailey! You don't eat and it worries me. I don't want you dead because you were to weak to carry and bear kits and I don't want the kits messed up because they didn't get all the stuff they needed." Cartel mewed. "I don't wanna loose you Hails..." his voice softened, his eyes casting down.

Hailey blinked softly listening silently and not interupting for once, sighing she nuzzled Cartel's neck, non seductively, before pulling back to look into the toms grey color. "I'm sorry Cartel." She murmured softly before sitting down and wrapping her tails over her paws in an embarrased manner. She glanced at her paws silently before letting out a soft breathe.

Cartel sighed softly, feeling Hailey nuzzle his neck. He sat down when she did, hearing her let out a soft breathe, an almost sigh. He looked up at her, his grey gaze locking on her thin frame. He moved over to her and nudged her shoulder with his muzzle. "If I mate with you. You have to eat, even if you're not hungry. You'll eat when I give you something to eat, ok?" he mewed. He'd give her all his food if he had to, but he didn't like the dissapointed look on her face...

Hailey smiled softly with a sense of love and compassion in her eyes as she laid along her mates shoulder while her tail softly intertwined with his, "Love you Car.." She mewed softly with soft yellow eyes before she gently nuzzled her mate with groggy yellow eyes as she gazed at him.

Cartel purred softly, licking Haily's ears. He could tell she was tired after that and he wasn't gonna make her keep patroling with him. "Go on back to the den Hailey, I'll bring you back something to eat, ok?" he mewed softly, watching her with soft eyes.

Cartel smiled, continuing to patrol the borders. Once he was sure they were all secure he went hunting, managing to find that nest of mice again and catching about six of them. Carrying them by their tails, Cartel bounded back to the den. He dropped four mice in front of Hailey, leaving two for himself. He was fine with that. He could go hunting again later, infact, he'd have to.

Hailey ears twitched softly, she never had enjoyed eating more then she was fine with. She saw it made her look greedy or starving- Yet she still had to keep up her part of the deal. She gave Cartel a soft and thankful smile before silently taking the few minutes to finish off three of her mice deciding to save the last one for later. She was making progress at least.
