Akuma's head was low against the howling of the winds, every breath of cold wind burned greedily at his lungs causing him to cough in great heaves. It was a living hell. Of course the black wolf had been born and raised in snow but it was nothing compared to this. It was black night, Akuma blended in perfectly. He was an unsuspected stranger prowling for trouble in the dead of night. Ah, that was it.. He was looking for a fight. With his broad figure and muscular form he had a pure chance of winning anyone who challenged him. That was just what he aimed for. Winning.
The howling of the wind grew making the snow that crunch beneath his large paws unheard. Perfect. Pausing in his deadly soft step he crouched in some long wisps of grass and cat tails. It was the perfect disguise. He was invisible to the world and everyone around him. Staring forward with cold yellow eyes he prowled a few steps forward eyes of hunger and grim triumph burning with danger. As he crouched low ready to spring he forgot one thing.. To expect the unexpected.
He sure was caught of guard then once rammed into. His head shot up in alarm, he remained taller.. But only by and inch.. Or two. The wolf before him was large and white, it had eyes of cold steel and was muscular and tough the same as he.. No, Akuma wasn't tough, he was tuff. That was a true compliment many had given him. Grinding his teeth Akuma crouched low ready to deliver a blow to the neck. Again he was caught off guard, the white figure muscular and sleek slid before him and nipped and snapped at his neck managed to pull a piece of skin loose along with a patch of scratchy black fur.
Akuma was stunned at this. Never had he expected someone to actually.. Hurt him. That, however, was the last thought in his mind at the moment. With a grunt of effort he lunged forward managing to latch his sharp, pale, yellow teeth onto the whites figures shoulder. In turned in aimed another lunge for the neck managing to sink it's teeth around it. Akuma's eyes grew huge.. That was rare. But if he was going down the intruder would go down with him. Never would he let anyone near his mate and pups.. The thought of Phoenix getting hurt.. Well. It crushed him.
That had been the reason, alarmed his mate claimed she smelled intruder along with their three friends Beast, Boston, and Steele. Akuma insisted they stay behind while he went and checked it out. Akuma was risking the ultimate sacrifice for his mate, pups, and life long friends.. His life. Gulping Akuma knew this would ruin it. With a growl he released the intruder and snatched loose with a clump of meat and hair coming loose as well. He let the world know he was in pain by uttering out a earsplitting wail. It wasn't only of pain.. It was also one of anger and triumph. The same grim kind that had first been revealed when his puppy blue eyes began opening.
With a yell of rage and anger he lunged forward, with his raw neck leaking with blood, and snapped his jaws perfectly around the wolf's neck. That sucker was going down with him alright. He quickly found the vein he had searched for and snapped down harder. Then, in an instant they both dropped. Akuma's eyes of a grim and bloody triumph for the win of the battle and the intruders of pain and regret for even coming onto the territory. With a low moan of pain Akuma unlatched his jaws and dropped his head onto the cold snow below. His teeth made a snapping sound when they clanked against each other. He.. Had done it. He had given his life. But it had been for his mate so that was the best cause there was.
Slowly his yellow eyes grew hard and cold before glazing over, his entrails were visible from the skin that had been torn from his neck as was the leaking blood. His life was over and he had predicted correct. He had died in a fight.. Something only a true wolf did, and he.. For once was proud of himself. Proud from keeping his friends and new family alive and for giving his life and his alone for it.

Zyid trudged through the winter snow, the howling wind tearing at the skin under his black pelt. He scented blood, and Jahi and some male he didn't recognize. He suddenly broke into a run when the heavy smell of death reached his nose. Jahi, what did you do! He ran as fast as he could, his paws flying quickly over the frozen ground, making him skid to a halt when he reached the bloody site. "Jahi..." Zyids hazel eyes fixed on his brother. In an instant he was by his side, pressing his nose into his brothers cold pelt. "Jahi wake up...come on Jahi this isn't funny." he was met with silence. His brother didn't move but his fur when it was blown in the wind.
"Jahi, Jahi please! Wake up...please...you can't leave Jahi...please." No, no, no! This wasn't how it was supposed to be! Jahi was all he had. Their parents were dead and so was their pack. Gah, why did he have to be so goddamn boneheaded. He went and got himself killed and for what?! The thrill of a fight?!
Whimpering, Zyid lay next to his brother, pressing his nose into his pelt, savoring the scent since he'd surely never smell it again. He'd endure the freezing cold to stay by his brothers body until sunrise, wasn't like he had anywhere else to go...

"Akuma!" Howled Damali worriedly as she glanced around. "How would she explain to the back she didn't know where the alpha male was! "C'mon Akuma! The packs worried!" She howled louder the faint blow of the wind blowing against her ragged and scratchy black pelt. She was one of the omega's in the clan and therefore a respected creature even for her young age. "Akuma!" She howled again tired of playing games. Growling she followed the black wolf's scent only to stumble onto the two dead bodies and Zyid. Her chest heave in shock as she shakily stared down at her alpha's body. "No..Oh God how to explain this to the alpha female! The pups, the pack!" Damali gasped in shock as she stared at her alpha's cold and lifeless body. Wait! Akuma was dead, she could get that much through her skull but she couldn't risk Spike, Akuma;s brother, taking over the pack! sure he was respected but he was also a cold killer and had no compassion! She had learned that after he had mated and left her to rot in the lower ranks a year back.
Her cold yellow eyes turned into cold anger before she jerked her head at Zyid. "What did you do!" She howled in anger.

Zyid heard another wolf coming but he didn't move from his spot next to Jahi, not even when the wolf made an appearance. He whimpered softly again, nosing Jahi once more, part of him thinking he'd jump up and starts laughing at him like always...but he didn't and he never would again.
When the other wolf asked him what he'd done, his blood boiled, part from grief and part from how angry he was at Jahi for wandering around a pack with pups! Idiot! He slowly stood, his large frame looming over the slightly smaller wolf. A growl rose in his throat. "I did nothing. As for my brother I wouldn't know because you Alpha killed him!" the growl turned into a grief filled snarl, his hazel eyes flashing, the green fleck in the corner of his left eye seemingly more apparent than before.

"Akuma killed him because he was protecting his mate and pups! Not to mention the pack and I!" Growled Damali in reply. Finally looking at Akuma's body was to much. Sure she had been part of the pack but also had been his daughter and one of his best friends. Damali broke into a desperate sob, clear tears dripping from her eyes and dropping onto the frozen ground. "Damn it Akuma!"' She sobbed as she dropped onto her stomach beside the large black wolf's body and licked his shoulder out of pain.

Zyid looked away, unable to stomach Damali's pain along with his own. The large black wolf sat hunched over his snow white brother, fighting the tears that stung at his eyes as the wind ripped at his fur. "Jahi wouldn't have hurt anybody...we were just looking for a place to stay..." he said softly, starting to lick the blood from his brothers white pelt.

"He should have left! None of this would have happened had the two of you just stick to your own place!" Sobbed Damali as she laid her head against Akuma's black scratchy flank. Sighing shakily she rose to her paws before grasping Akuma's scruff in her mouth ready to drag the large black wolf back to the pack. She placed his body back down heavily her small black form to weak to move it alone. She let out a growl of shame in herself before lashing carelessly at the snow with a forepaw.

"We would've if we'd had our own place." Zyid growled, looking at his brothers gleaming white fur. He could hear the she wolf behind him struggling, turning his head in time to see her batting angrily at the snow. He pushed himself to his paws, walking over and grabbing the dead wolf by the scruff, looking at the she wolf, waiting for her to lead him where she wanted the body.

Tears slid from Damali's eyes as she turned a slowly started walking forward with cold yellow eyes. The only thing she could think of was two things, that Akuma was dead and that Spike would soon take over the pack.

Zyid followed, not saying a thing, just walking, carrying the body of the Alpha who was responsible for the death of his brother and who's death was too dealt by his brother as well. He still wouldn't believe that Jahi had set out to hurt anybody. They were looking for a place to stay and the damn alpha had over reacted. But Jahi was dead. He had nothing.

Damali padded slowly into the camp with her head dipped low only to be confronted by Spike. "Where've you been? Do you realize the packs been worried sick!" He howled in annoyance as he shook out his black pelt. Yes he was related to Damali and yes he had mated wit her but it had been worth it. Even when his brother nearly killed him for it. "Ah....So he finally dropped." Growled Spike lowly as he took a step back to look over Akuma's dead form.

Zyid dropped the dead Alpha, looking between the other male and the she wolf he'd been with out there. His brother was still out there...he shook himself, dipping his head respectfully, looking anxious to go. He hadn't been around a pack in a long time, this many wolves made him nervous, and Jahi's body was still laying there in the snow...

Damali stumbled back in shock stopped beside Zyid. "Please..Don't leave. I can't be left alone with Spike.." She whis[ered as he watched the black male yank up his brothers body.

"Isn't that what the rest of your pack is for?" Zyjd said, looking off anxiously again. He glanced at the little dazed looking she wolf, frowning a bit. "Whats wrong with this Spike guy anyways?"

"The pack doesn't stand up to him..They know better.. The only one who did was Akuma and he's gone now, my Ma wont even and she's Alpha." She whispered in reply before shaking her head at his question. "Everything." She whispered as she watched the pack gather in dismay. "Just..Please, don't leave.." Whispered Damali. [/size[

Zyid growled. He didn't want to be here and once the others realized he was here they probably wouldn't let him stay. But still he set back out to retrieve his brother, bringing his brothers body back, staying very far away from everybody else, laying next to his brothers body and waiting to be kicked out and driven away, or at least shunned because his brother caused the death of the Alpha.

Damali padded unsurely over to the male before murmuring softly, "Phoenix agrees that you can stay." In a soft voice.

Zyids ears perked, blinking and looking up at the she wolf. "Why? I could be a killer for all she knows. One of those males who kills the alpha, mates with all the she wolves and leave. One who's stuck on avenging the death of his brother. Why is she letting me stay?" he growled, his black fur mixing with his brothers white fur where it was close enough to. Jahi would never tease him again for being the only black pup in a littler if white ones. It was killing him inside.

Damali shrunk back in shock and fear. "You didn't seem the type." She whispered quietly as she looked up at the male with pale yellow eyes that had a blank tone added to them.
Spike growled lowly as he glared at the males around him, he was daring them to try and attack him for the alpha's position. To him it was obvious he had a good chance at winning this.

"Things are not always as they seem." Zyid growled, pushing himself into a sitting position once more. His golden eyes flickered to Jahi's body once more, taking in a deep breath. "I'm Zyid...my brother was Jahi..." he said, looking back at the little she wolf.

"I'm Damali.." Whispered the black she-wolf in a shaky reply. "I'm sorry for the trouble and grief my father has caused to you." She whispered softly while her black tail lashed worriedly against the ground.

"Well I'm not gonna leave you alone over here...It's inhumane.." Replied Damali softly. "I'll go...The den where the omega's sleep is over there..The delta's sleep there..Lower ranked wolves sleep where they can.." Whispered Damali before slowly stalkign over to the Omega's den.

Zyid watched Damali walk over to the Omega's den, the wind still tearing at his black pelt. His eyes lifted to the moon. His mother had told him that the spirits of the dead went to Serena, the wolf goddess who ruled the moon. They waited with her until sunrise, when Moltres, the wolf god who ruled the sun, would take the males. The females would stay with Serena. That was where his brother was right now, probably sitting with their mother and their female packmates as well. The thought made his heart ache. He lifted his muzzle so it was pointed at the moon and let out a long, mournful howl that not even the wind could drown out.

Damali shakily laid into her nest before curling her ragged tail around her body.
Spike's torn and ripped ear twitched at the howl. Coldly he stepped from his brothers body, playing the role of the hurt brother perfectly, with his head down and tail tucked between his legs in mock shame. He was quiet the role-player when he wanted to be. Rising to his tall and muscular height the black wolf padded up to Zyid and raised an eyebrow. "I see you've made yourself comfortable with my idiotic little niece. Sweet kid around a year or two ago." Snickered Spike in amusement.

Zyids howl slowly ended, his yellow gaze turning to a glare as he looked at Spike. "You should not speak about the little she wolf Damali like that. She's not idiotic and I've known her not a full day." he growled, as always, the green fleck in his left eye seemingly standing out more as he glared. He did not even realize that he looked almost identical to Spike, in the physical sense at least, nor did he really care.
