Featherstar rested her tail on her paws. She sighed as she thought about Pokerpaw and the clan. She was deep in thought.

The tabby tom's tail quivered as he slunk into the den, his tail trailing the ground underneath him. The tom wasn't confident about what he was going to do, but he had to talk to his leader. He didn't think he had anything else to do other than gain some self confidence, and that was only possible by probably talking to his leader.
"F-Featherstar?" Calmbreeze meowed, almost in a whisper as he put one paw into the den, then quickly withdrew it. It just didn't feel right go in and intrude without an invitation. Instead, the tom proceeded to wrap his tail around his paws and wait, his paws twitching nervously once in awhile.

Featherstar looked up. She swiveled her ears and picked up the whisper of her deputy, Calmbreeze. "Ah, Calmbreeze. Come in." She mewed. The tortie turned to look at her deputy.
"What can I do for you?" She asked, her tone friendly. Her whiskers twitched as she smiled, waiting for Calmbreeze's answer and for the tom to come in.

Calmbreeze hesitated for a moment longer, lingering outside of the den before setting one paw in, the then other, until the tip of his tail was fully in the den. He paused there, though, and the tabby tom scuffed the ground with his paws before speaking.
"Do you think..." He began, pausing between his sentence to think about waht he was staying before speaking again. "That I'm......fit to be deputy?" Personally, he thought he was a horrible choice. Why in the world had he been chosen to be deputy? Him, of all cats?

Featherstar looked at Calmbreeze with a still expression for a moment. "Yes, yes I do." She mewed.
"Your personality is what I chose you for. No matter how much others show off, your dreams can become a reality, but their strength can't make those dreams happen." Featherstar looked her deputy in the eye as she spoke, her words soft. Her expression softened as she finished,"I don't think that I could have made a better choice."

Honestly, if cats could blush, Calmbreeze would have blushed right then and there. The tom shifted on his paws for a bit, his tail flicking from side to side, dipping his head to Featherstar and murmuring his thanks. Yet, he still couldn't shake off the feeling that he was somehow unfit to be the deputy. Unfit to have such a high position.
"I-I just don't feel like I'm doing enough for the clan." He meowed. "I want to be like other deputies, to be able to stand by your side without looking like a timid apprentice." He lowered his head. "I'm just not sure I can do that."

"What are you saying? You are an amazing deputy, if you believe that then others will believe you." Featherstar mewed. She was worried that she would loose her faithful deputy.
"You are doing plenty for the clan. I don't want to have any other cat as my deputy as long as you and I live." Feahtherstar mewed.

Calmbreeze sighed, as he wasn't too sure what to make of it. What his leader was saying sounded convincing, but he wasn't sure that it would be true for him around other cats.
"Thank you." He murmured, dipping his head and flicking his tail. "I will defend my clan with my life when the time comes." He made that promise to himself as well, that he wouldn't ever back down when a crucial time came.

"I would expect noting less. You are an amazing cat." Featherstar complimented. She let out a purr. She couldn't help it, it was in her nature to purr when she was trying to cheer someone up.
"Never forget, I choose you form your intelligence, nad I wouldn't have it any other way." She purred a bit louder.

Calmbreeze nodded with another murmur of thanks. He didn't really feel like he was all his leader thought he was, but he wasn't inclined to complain any more about it. It would seem like he was pitying himself, in which he wasn't. That was something that Calmbreeze hated to seem like he was, no matter how unsure of himself he seemed.
"The clan seems to be doing well." He pointed out, trying to suggest a more...productive topic. If he was already here, he might as well talk about the clan. That was what mattered the most about being a good deputy, after all.

"I've heard from Pokerpaw that green-cough is going around." Featerstar mewed grimly. She was worried about her father and mother. She was glad that Calmbreeze had finally accepted the fact that she was proud of him
"I'm worried for the clan elders mainly." She mewed. Her parents would be upset that she was worrying about them when they had told her not to but she couldn't help it.

Calmbreeze shuffled on his paws. "You're right." He meowed with a flick of his tail, his gaze shifting towards the exit of the den for a brief second before turning back to his leader.
"Will some more brambles around the elder's den help?" He suggested. "If they're kept warm from the wind of Leaf-bare, then there'll be less of a chance that they'll catch greencough."

"Yes, you are quite right. Some more brambles should be put around their den." Featherstar mewed. She felt a bit more relieved that her parents would have less of a chance of getting sick.
"What else is there?" Featherstar asked and zoned out in thought.
